Gianluca Michelli is a PhD candidate in Contemporary Humanism at LUMSA University (Rome) and ICP (Paris). He holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Trieste and an MSc in Logic from the University of Amsterdam, which he completed in 2023 with a thesis entitled “Intentions behind Metaphor Use.” His research focuses on linguistic freedom in humans, with particular attention to personal identity, linguistic activism, and conceptual change. He approaches these questions drawing on Edmond Ortigues’ work on language and personhood. His other interests include creative uses of language, especially metaphor, and Wittgensteinian philosophy.
